Join us
again at the Illinois
Railway Museum Memorial Day Weekend 2010 for our 2nd Annual WWII Living History Reenactment as we
recreate the historic North Platte Canteen, honoring the
American soldiers of WWII. Then travel with our
American GIs over seas to the Italian theater of
operations in 1945. Witnessing a great mix
of small skirmishes and skits culminating with an
Italian rail yard battle. All scenarios will utilize working
trains, trolleys, and streetcars.
- The Anzio Express: Ride with the German Army as they
evacuate Rome prior to the Allied Liberation.
- The North Platte Canteen Recreation: Ride with America GIs
on a troop train making a historic stop at the famous
North Platte Canteen in North Platte
Nebraska.
- Tour of Italy: Journey on the period streetcars through
various depictions of WWII history during war torn
Italy.
- Rail Yard Battle Daily.
- USO Swing Dance on Saturday night featuring the "Grand
Avenue Big Band".
- Memorial Day Ceremony honoring American Veterans
culminating with a the Honor Express train ride with
Veterans and Reenactors.

of the North Platte Canteen
The citizens of North
Platte, Nebraska, voluntarily served thousands of
travelling American GIs cakes and refreshments at their
depot on the Union Pacific Railroad during WWII.

The World War Two Re-enactment Associations of TSG (Tactical
Studies Group) and HRS (Historical
Re-enactment Society) are a family of hundreds of men and
women members from coast to coast, as well as Canada and Europe. Our
mission is to bring the history of World War Two to life with public
displays, simulated battles that are both public as well as tactical
simulations, participation in parades, and a variety of other community
activities.
Both our Associations strives to honor and preserve the memory of
those who served in World War Two, as well as preserve the artifacts of
that period.
Our members carry out a wide range of impressions, including those of
The United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Poland, Italy,
and Germany.
Our focus is entirely on the military history of World War Two. We
have no place or sympathy for the ideology of nazism or fascism. Such
beliefs are not welcome here and will be turned away from this event.
